Innovating low-cost and reliable

clean ammonia
for a cleaner future

In 2021 Clean Hydrogen Works launched the Ascension Clean Energy (ACE) project in Louisiana’s Ascension Parish with the ultimate goal of providing affordable clean ammonia to support decarbonization of energy, globally.

The project is on schedule to meet

The ACE project is built on an infrastructure first policy that prioritizes critical path elements on the project development such as securing pipeline agreements for CO2 transportation.
Final Investment Decision (FID):
2025–2026
Commercial Operations Date (COD):
2029
Tons of clean ammonia produced annually for 1st phase:
2.4M
Tons of clean ammonia produced at full deployment annually:
7.2M

The ACEProject

Located in Donalsonville, Louisiana, the 1,700-acre site was chosen for its host of infrastructure-related, cost-competitive, and environmental advantages. Louisiana is at the forefront of the clean energy transition and the ACE Project is proud to support the state’s ambition and to be an engaged stakeholder in the community in which it operates.Learn more

The ACE Advantage

Low Carbon

98% CO2 capture. Mitigation of upstream gas emissions. Zero Scope 2 emissions. Reliable Delivery - Critical CCS contracts secured.

Low Cost
ACE is positioned to be one of the lowest priced providers of clean ammonia in the world.
Large Scale
The supply of clean ammonia can be scaled up quickly to match demand formation.

Long-term CO2transportation and sequestration

Clean Hydrogen Works will transfer the CO2 to ExxonMobil’s pipeline.  From there, ExxonMobil, a leader in carbon capture, will transport and sequester the CO2.  This relationship with ExxonMobil positions the ACE project as a leader in clean ammonia production. What's the process?

Zero CarbonFuel Source

The ACE project will generate its own power from zero carbon, hydrogen rich fuel that is produced onsite, eliminating scope 2 emissions. In addition, this will minimize the reliance on the power grid, ensuring reliability and optimal uptime for the production of clean ammonia.

Utilizing Rapid and AffordableConstruction Methods

Some of the ACE facilities will be pre-built offsite as mega-modules. This construction process is cost-effective, time efficient, and creates substantial construction activities for local and regional communities. Up to 1,500 construction workers will be employed at the ACE project during the onsite construction phase for up to two years of work.Learn more
